Homemade French Fried Onions
January 13, 2008 |
Did you know that you can easily make French Fried Onions at home… for a fraction of the cost?
I love French Fried Onions. But, I hate the fact that they are so expensive, especially since I have been known to eat them right out of the can. (Try it sometime. They make a yummy snack!)
I can’t tell you how happy I was when I ran across the following recipe. You’ll never buy the canned variety again.
3 large onions (slice them into thin rings)
2 cups milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
oil (for frying)
salt
Prior to heating oil in large skillet or deep fryer, soak onions in milk for 5 minutes. Dredge onions in flour (a handful at a time). Fry in batches, stirring to brown evenly. Drain on paper towels. Season to taste. Store in air-tight container or large ziploc bag. Enjoy! ![]()
