Pizza Memories

May 23, 2008 |

I have a friend who recently moved to Canada. Even though her physical presence will be missed, I’m grateful that we can easily keep in touch, via the Internet.

You are probably wondering why I chose this topic for a blog post. In a nutshell, Susan was my baking buddy. She loves to cook as much as I do. We are both kitchen gadget junkies and cookbook lovers.

Several years ago, we got into the habit of getting together to cook a few days worth of meals. We always made enough to feed both of our families, splitting up our delicious booty, at the end of each marathon session.

One of our last cooking sessions centered on pizza. I decided long ago that my freezer wasn’t happy unless it was storing at least five or six homemade pizzas, for me. They are so yummy and quick to fix. Better yet, making them yourself will save you a ton of money.

Susie called me a few days ago and told me she’s hungry for my homemade pizza. How sweet is that? Apparently, there is a take-out place in her new neighborhood, Ajax pizza, that cranks out a pie that reminds her of my recipe.

I think it’s interesting that they offer grilled zucchini, fresh ground ginger and sweet chili Thai sauce as ingredient options. (I must admit, though, the thought of ginger on a pizza scares me just a little.)

For those of you living in Canada, this pizza establishment has more than one location. I’m told there is a Cambridge pizza and Barrie pizza, as well. You might want to try their fare.

What is your favorite pizza topping or combination? Do you have a great crust recipe, you’d like to share? Now’s the time for you to tell us how you REALLY feel about pizza… you’ll be glad you did.

Funny, I was going through some blogs at blogcatalog and came across this post. I remember when I was in military school for highschool when I was younger (long story lol!) and we had the “worst” pizza in history on Fridays. I use to beg my mom to get my grandma to make me her famous homemade pizza and bring it with when they visited me!
